We are pleased to introduce Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), which is a non-government organization having multidimensional development activities, like Non-formal Education, Water & sanitation, Arsenic Mitigation Programme, Awareness about HIV/ AIDS, Prevention of Child & Women Trafficking, Primary Health Care, Ahsania Mission Cancer & General Hospital, Vocational Skill Training for Working Children, Relief and Rehabilitation during natural disasters and many other areas of programmes for the benefit of the poor people of Bangladesh. In addition to various development projects, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has established a ‘Zakat Fund’ to help the hardcore poor people of Bangladesh. Zakats received from the individuals/organisations are solely utilized towards the development of poor family members, as per the choice of the Zakat payers. Generally the fund is being utilized for the following purposes: |

- Education supports to the children of poor families.
- Support to the general treatment cost of the poor and helpless patients
- Support towards the treatment of cancer patients.
- Support towards the marriage expenses of girls from poor families
- Provide vocational skill training to the adolescents of the poor families
- Help the members of poor families to become self-sufficient through income generating activities
- Providing relief and rehabilitation materials at the time of any natural disasters
- Helping the poor families in building or repairing their houses.
- Establishing a Children City for the Street Children and Orphans
- Running a Night Shelter for the destitute people who do not have any place to sleep.
- Miscellaneous financial support to the poor people.

During the period of last one year (2008-09), a total amount of Tk.3,247,739.00 was received in our Zakat Fund and an amount of Tk.2,984,305.00 has so far been distributed to the poor people for the above purposes. |

We are aware that many Bangladeshis living abroad do not find proper ways to disburse their Zakats to the really deserving people. We take this responsibility on your behalf to ensure utilizing your Zakat to the benefit of the ultra poor people of the society who really deserve to get Zakat as per the guidelines given in our religion. |
